One of the toughest decisions to make when maintaining your landscape lighting system is whether to upgrade to LED or continue using halogen bulbs.

Halogen

Halogen bulbs were commonly used in outdoor landscape lighting systems for years and are relatively inexpensive. Because halogen bulbs tend to last only up to 5,000 hours, they usually require additional costs for more repairs and replacement.  Another disadvantage is that halogen bulbs tend to emit heat which can create a potential safety hazard for people, animals, and plants.  Halogen lighting systems used to have the advantage of being more readily available than LED systems, but this is no longer the case.

As you can see, while it may cost a little bit more at the outset an LED system is the more cost conscious and environmentally friendly choice.   Contact Premier Lighting, Inc. to get started on the LED landscape lighting system of your dreams.

LED

Light emitting diode or LED lighting has gained popularity due to its ability to last up to 40,000 hours of use and because it is the most energy-efficient lighting technology available.  Although LED bulbs cost more than halogen, you can save money in the long run since you will need to replace them less often and they are much more energy efficient.  LED bulbs are not only a more sustainable option, but they are also a very safe form of lighting since they do not radiate heat, which eliminates the risk of burns to people, animals, and plants.  They are compatible with most current lighting systems and create warm lighting effects comparable to that of traditional landscape lighting systems, while at the same time provide your home with enhanced security and curb appeal.  In addition, there are now color changing LED bulbs available that you can control with your phone which can add a touch of whimsy to your landscaping.
